From the late 1980’s to now we’ve grown more than we ever thought possible. With our creative vision for the future we will continue to push the envelope for decades to come.

Our roots lie in the music production business.

In 1989 we founded the Dorian Gray Studios on the outskirts of Munich, where we have already produced for Alanis Morissette, Joe Cocker, Lang Lang and Marit Larsen, among others.

Thirty years ago, the growing success of Dorian Gray Studios gave rise to one of the most beautiful problems you can have in the media industry: too much work and not enough dedicated talent to join us.

So we decided to start our own academy and train the kind of creative professionals we would have loved to hire: passionate, focused, dedicated, ready to rock!

Since then we have helped train thousands of music and media professionals. As we have grown beyond music production, our academy has expanded into many other facets of the media and creative industries.

1989: Our journey begins with the emergence of Dorian Gray Studios.

1994: The music support group GmbH is founded.

1998: We open our first campus in Munich.

2004: The German POP Academy is born

2005: We open our campus in Cologne.

2006: We start our publishing house Sonic Media.

2007: We open our campus in Berlin.

2008: We open our campus in Hamburg.

2011: Campus Vienna and Nuremberg. 2012: Frankfurt and Hanover.

2013: Opening of the locations in Stuttgart and Bremen.

2015: Opening of the locations in Leipzig and Bochum.

2016: We found our international educational partnership United POP

2016: Opening of the locations in Amsterdam and Dresden.

2017: We begin our digital transformation and set up our online academy .

2018: Opening of offices in Zagreb & Melbourne.

2019: We open our campus in Madrid.

2021: Creation of our educational concept 4.0 – A blended learning system that combines the best of two worlds: online and classroom teaching.

A MESSAGE FROM Rüdiger J. Veith

For more than 30 years curiosity, passion and emotion have been the driving force behind my journey into the world of music and media.

In 1989, I established Dorian Gray Studios, one of the most popular production studios for music, speech and film productions in Europe. A few years later, with further development of the business it became necessary for different departments to trade under the name Music Support Group to accommodate the expansion.

This media company allowed me to realise my dream of combining departments such as music, sound, marketing, event management, communication, design, fashion, and lifestyle to deliver it all under one roof. The combination of different disciplines has lead to many new successful products and services being produced for the creative arts industry.

Nowadays, the convergence of media is taken for granted. It is becoming more and more important to have a broad skill set in order to succeed in the international employment market. Everybody, even consumers, have to learn to deal with new media technology in their every day life.

After coming to the realisation that I was lacking appropriate employees for my media company, I invested in intern education and advanced training with practical relevance for the employees. This led me to create the education department known as United POP.

Making it to the top in music and media no longer means playing an instrument perfectly or mastering certain software. Handling the business reliably and knowing how different departments interact with each other is the basic requirement for success in this industry.

In a time where music and media dominate our every day life, there is an increase in job opportunities within this sector. United POP offers students a pathway into the unbelievable variety and possibilities of the creative arts field.

The University Of West London

To accommodate the request for international career opportunities, a collaboration with the University of West London was introduced.

As a student, this allows you to build on the skills learned in your Diplomas and further your education by providing you with the opportunity to study a Bachelor or Masters Degree.

Numerous Diplomas issued by the DPOP and UPOP European campuses have a Bachelor (Honours) pathway with our partner, the University of West London (UWL).

Graduates of the Advanced Diploma at the United POP Melbourne Campus can apply for a recognition of prior learning with Deutsche POP, and this offers the potential opportunity to then have a pathway to a BA (Honours) with UWL.

United Pop as an international academy ensures the curriculum is delivered at a consistent quality across campuses. We are now located in numerous countries, spread over two continents.
